No matter how your family unit is made up, we have something for you. Family involvement is welcomed and encouraged by our many planned special events held throughout the year.

Wednesday Night Dinners
We want to make it easy for families to eat together and enjoy a great night of ministry, so each Wednesday Night we offer a full meal at a nominal fee. Whether you’re a family of one or more, join us for a home cooked meal.
Reservations should be made through the church office no later then 12 noon on the Monday before dinner or by turning in the reservation slip (Blue Card) located in the pew rack or Welcome Center. Payment is required for all reservations unless you are a first-time attendee, we would love for you to be our guest. First time guests can call our church office to make your reservation (499-5457). Standing reservations are recommended but not required. We allow for a SMALL number of walk-ins at an additional cost. All dinners include salad bar, main course, bread, drink, dessert, and chicken nuggets are always available for children.

KBC Cinema Cafe
September thru May— Experience our Cinema Café where the movie and popcorn are free! We show a family-friendly film. The Café concession opens at 6:00p for dining and cartoons. The Café serves diner specialties- hot dogs (with chili/cheese), pizza, BBQ sandwiches, french fries, funnel cakes and general concession drinks, candy etc… Shortly thereafter, at 7:00p, the feature film begins. At the end of the show we give the DVD away to one of our many movie-goers! If you would like to reserve a table or have a birthday party, please contact Johanna Wright (757-288-0031).

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading
This sports ministry, for kindergarten—6th grade boys and girls, seeks to develop the self-esteem of each child while teaching sportsmanship, character, athleticism, and respect for authority in all situations. Upward is a 10 week program and runs from January through March of each year. Tryouts are in November/December. For more information click here.
Adult married and engaged couples are invited to enjoy a romantic evening for two in a Christian atmosphere. The Valentine’s Banquet always takes place the Friday before Valentine’s Day. The evening begins with photos and is followed by appetizers and live music before dinner. You’ll enjoy great food, fellowship, and entertainment. The evening concludes with a special gift for all couples.
God & Country Day—Church Picnic
Join us as we celebrate our nation’s freedoms and honor those who have proudly served our country in the armed forces. This event is always the closest Sunday to the 4th of July, immediately following morning service on the church lawn and in the Family Life Center. Lunch is served at 12:00p. Come prepared to enjoy the fried chicken, BBQ, cole slaw, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, watermelon, ice cream, tea, and lemonade! Reservation and payment for food, a nominal fee, must be received by the Monday before the event, prior to noon. Plan to have a great day with your family!
Kempsville Baptist offers kids, ages K-6th grade, an opportunity to learn basketball each summer during the last two weeks of July. Kids can learn about basketball and meet other kids from their neighborhood and community, all based within a Christian atmosphere.
Country Fall Festival
Free and open to the public rain or shine at KBC. The festival is always the 1st Saturday in October from 10:00a to 2:00p. The event is fun for all ages. Wear your favorite farm fashions. This event is our way of giving back to the community. There are 15 carnival booths with prizes. It’s FREE!!

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving our church family takes part in a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone is invited to break bread with God’s people and gather afterward for a Thanksgiving service. There is a small cost per person for dinner. Serving begins at 5:00p and lasts until 6:00p. Our service begins approximately at 6:15p. Reservations and payment are required the Friday before. Please know that if you are unable to attend the meal, we would still love for you to join us for our service.
Experience the true reason for the season with KBC’s Christmas Festival! There will be activity booths for children where they can make crafts, ornaments and decorate cookies. Also, the entire family can sign cards for our troops! Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture a special family portrait in our Christmas photo area. This event is free and open the public.
