The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by leading people, beyond his/her own natural sphere of influence, to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. (The passionate soul winner who seeks the lost) -proclaims the good news -preacher of the gospel -constantly consumed with the need of confronting sinners with the gospel -encouraging other Christians to share good news The Prophet The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by proclaiming God’s truth. (The preacher who points out sin) -speaks forth the mind and counsel of God -not a fore-teller but a forth-teller -points out sin -preaches for conviction and decisions The Teacher The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by making clear the truth of the Word of God with accuracy and simplicity. (The scholar making clear the doctrines and teachings of the Bible) -communicates knowledge, relays facts -a theologian, scholar, writer The Exhorter The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by motivating others to action by urging them to pursue a course of conduct. (The “How-To” teacher, giving the application of God’s Word) -admonishes and encourages -usually make the best counselors -person of practical application The Pastor-Teacher The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by overseeing, training and caring for the needs of a group of Christians. (The shepherd who leads and feeds; the coach of the “Team”) -guards and protects -oversees -a spiritual administrator The Merciful The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by identifying with and comforting those who are in distress. (The person who understands and comforts his/her fellow Christian) -feels sympathy with the misery of others -enters into grief with others and empathizes -ministers to the sick, poor, prisoners, blind, aged, and hurting The Servant The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by rendering practical help in both physical and spiritual matters. (The person who meets the practical needs of his fellow Christians and the Church) -not a king but a king-maker -will not have to be told what needs to be done -recognizes easily what needs to be done and does it -enjoys manual projects The Giver The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by giving of his material resources, far beyond the tithe, to further the work of God. (The person who meets the financial need of his fellow Christians and church ministries) -gives above and beyond -gives when tithing ends -shares with whoever has need The Administrator The Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by organizing, administering, promoting and leading the various affairs of the church.
